When someone says "Champagne", what is the first thing that you think of? To most people they will think either “Party” or “Expensive”. Champagne is the most popular drink for toasting various events from births and weddings through to Christmas and New Year. Champagne has a very special taste which a normal wine just does not compare to and is a very bubbly drink.

Across the world Champagne has become very well known wine, often being thought of as being an expensive and sophisticated drink. It also takes its name from the area where it was produced, Champagne in France.

If you visit the wine merchants very often you will notice that while there is quite a small selection of Champagne, there is a larger range of wines which are very similar, however as they are from a region other than Champagne, they have to be labelled as "Sparkling Wines".

If you can not afford to buy real Champagne, there is a wide range of sparkling wines available which have a very similar taste and are just as bubbly and are more than suitable for most occasions, especially when you need a lot of it.

The sparkling wine can taste just as nice as Champagne, however as it wasn’t produced in the Champagne region they are not able to label it as so and therefore unable to price the wine as highly. This means that you can still get a very high quality sparkling wine to celebrate with for the price of a normal bottle of wine.

Comparing the price of champagne to sparkling wine online is really easy, just go to an online wine merchants and you will instantly see the price difference. A lot of people think that sparkling wine will not taste as nice as Champagne because it is "cheap", however it isn't cheap, Champagne is expensive because of the region it is produced in. With most bottles of Champagne you are paying a premium due to the fact it is produced within a specific region of France rather than the fact the wine tastes nice. At most wine merchants you will probably be able to buy a case of sparkling wine for the same sort of price as it would cost you for one bottle of Champagne.

Most people will not be able to tell the difference between sparkling wine and Champagne which means it is more than suitable for most occassions, although some people still like to have Champagne for very special occasions.
